Course Aims : The aim of this course is to equip students with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the operational and strategic environmental methods and tools available in the minerals industry and translating this knowledge into action to manage natural ecosystems, societies and natural resources in a sustainable way.

Specific Learning Outcomes:  Upon completion of the course, students will, through assessment activities, demonstrate their ability to:

·       Analyse the benefits and limitations of various environmental management systems.

·       Evaluate environmental and health risks and impacts and deliver sustainable solutions.

·       Conduct a cost and benefit analysis of a project while accounting for environmental and energy investments.

·       Create professional environmental management analysis outputs, both independently and within team environments.

Comprehensive Learning Outcomes:  Evaluate environmental and health risks and impacts associated with the extraction and processing of mineral resources and deliver sustainable solutions in relation to the use of mineral resources, pollution of habitats and the modification of ecosystems.
