This is a course to introduce few topics of the vast areas of Bulk Material Handling in the mineral industry. More than 75% of operations in the mining and mineral industry involve bulk material handling and processing along with transportation. It involves deployment of wide range of machinery and development of systems of operations. Operation and Maintenance of these systems require knowledge of mechanical engg, electrical engg, electronics and instrumentation, data science and econometrics. The present course is to introduce these so that you can develop yourself learning capabilities to develop necessary competency to work with the following:
1. Properties of bulk material vis-a-vis different bulk handling operations;
2. Classification of bulk material transportation systems,
3. Design, operation and maintenance aspects of mine hoist,
4. Belt conveyors and chain conveyors,
5. Hydraulic and pneumatic conveying;
6. Stacking, blending and reclaiming of bulk materials
7. Automation and online monitoring of bulk material handling system.
8. Design of storage system: Silos, bins and bunkers;
9. Rapid loading system,
10. Merry-go-round system. Reference
I will be covering the conveying technology.
